What brings you here?

Whatever you're carrying, you don't have to carry it alone.

Start where it hurts. These are some of the reasons the people we work with first reach out, and each one is something we help with every day.

Anxiety & Depression

When your thoughts race at 2 a.m. or the day feels heavier than it should, we help you find steadier ground and a way back to yourself.

Trauma & EMDR

Some memories keep their grip long after the moment has passed. EMDR and trauma-informed care help your mind loosen that hold, gently and at your pace.

Couples & Marriage

The same argument on repeat, or a quiet distance you can't quite name. Gottman, IMAGO, and EFT-trained counselors help you hear each other again.

Child & Teen

When your child is withdrawn, anxious, or acting out, it's hard to know how to help. Play therapy and teen-focused care meet them where they are.

Family Therapy

Every family carries patterns, some helpful and some worn out. We help you shift the ones that keep everyone stuck, and build back trust.

Life Transitions

A new city, a career change, a loss, a becoming. Big shifts deserve support, and a steady person in your corner while you find your footing.

How it works

Getting started is simple, and there's no pressure.

Reaching out for the first time can feel like a big step. We've kept the path short and human, so the hardest part is behind you once you say hello.

  1. Reach out

Book a free consultation online or by phone. Tell us a little about what's going on; there's no script, no jargon, and no pressure to commit.

  2. Get matched

We pair you with a licensed counselor suited to your needs, your location, and the way you like to work, whether that's in person or by telehealth.

  3. Begin at your pace

Start weekly, biweekly, or as often as helps. Individual sessions run $130–$200 and couples sessions $150–$230 depending on your counselor, and we issue superbills you can submit to out-of-network insurance.

I've worked with kids, teens, adults, and couples in both private practice and the classroom, so I know how differently each age needs to be met. Expect a safe place to sort through anxiety, stress, or a hard transition, and coping skills you'll actually use.

I work with children and teens ages 6 to 17, and I treat parents as part of the team rather than bystanders. As an elementary school counselor pursuing a Ph.D. in child and adolescent development, I look at the whole picture: emotional, social, and academic.

Most of the people I sit with are capable and thoughtful, but something just isn't clicking right now. I bring over 25 years with teenagers and families, plus lived experience of divorce and raising a child with a disability, so very little will sound unfamiliar.

Some things are easier to say with a dog in the room. I'm a Goldendoodle therapy dog in training, and I can join sessions at the Katy office on request, which often helps kids open up when talking feels like too much.

Addiction is a family disease, so I work with the whole system instead of one person in isolation. I specialize in couples affected by substance abuse and trauma using Imago, EMDR, and IFS, and as a Marine Corps veteran I bring that same persistence to the work.

The difference support makes

You deserve more than just getting by.

Without the right support…

  • Symptoms get managed but never really understood.
  • You white-knuckle through the same patterns on repeat.
  • Progress feels random, and hard to sustain.
  • You quietly wonder if therapy is even working.

With the right counselor…

  • You understand where the patterns come from.
  • You leave with tools you can actually use between sessions.
  • You have a clear sense of what you're working toward.
  • Your care adapts as you grow and life changes.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

Do you take insurance, and how do superbills work?

Mental Health Counseling Group is an out-of-network practice. Individual sessions run $130–$200 and couples sessions $150–$230 (exact fees vary by counselor's license level and experience), and are paid at the time of service. On request, we issue a superbill, an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We're glad to explain what to ask your plan about before your first visit.

How do I book a first appointment?

Start by booking a free consultation online or by calling any of our offices. Tell us briefly what you're looking for, and we'll match you with a licensed counselor who fits your needs and schedule. From there, you'll book your first full session in person or by telehealth, usually within the same week.

Is telehealth available across Texas?

Yes. In addition to our offices in Katy, Sugar Land, Fulshear, and Austin, we offer secure video telehealth to anyone located anywhere in Texas. It's the same counselors and the same quality of care, from the comfort of your own space.

What ages and needs do you work with?

We work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families. Our counselors offer Individual, Couples, Family, Child, Adolescent, and Group Therapy, plus Life Coaching and Executive Coaching, using EMDR, CBT, Gottman Method, IMAGO, EFT, and Play Therapy.

What happens in a free consultation?

A free consultation is a short, no-pressure conversation, usually by phone or video. You share what's bringing you in, ask any questions about our approach and pricing, and we help you decide on the right counselor. There's no obligation to continue; it's simply a comfortable first step.
