The short version
When you send us something through this website, an enquiry, or an assessment you have chosen to save, the practice can see it, and we keep it as part of our records. We do not sell it, and we do not share it outside the practice. That is essentially the whole policy; the rest is detail.
What we collect
When you contact us, whatever you put in the form: your name, how to reach you, the location you are interested in, and what you choose to tell us. It goes to the counselor or office you selected, and we are alerted so that someone sees it promptly.
When you take an assessment, the questions are scored in your browser. To see your results we ask for your name and email address, and we keep those along with your answers as part of our records. You are shown exactly what you are agreeing to before that happens, and you can stop at that point without giving us anything, in which case nothing is kept.
As you browse, we use cookies and a web analytics service to see how people find and move around the site, pages viewed, roughly where in the world you are, and what brought you here. We use it to improve the site, not to identify you.
What we will not do
- We do not sell your information. Not to anyone, for any price.
- We do not share it outside the practice, except with the service providers who help us run the website and reach you, and who may only use it on our instructions.
- We do not use anything you tell us for advertising.
- We do not send marketing email unless you asked for it, in a checkbox separate from everything else. Every one of those emails can be unsubscribed from.
- We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18 through this website.
This is not your clinical record
This policy is about the website. Once you become a client, your clinical record is governed by our Notice of Privacy Practices, a separate document your counselor provides when care begins. Where the two overlap, the Notice of Privacy Practices governs.
How long we keep it, and what you can ask for
We keep enquiries and saved assessments as part of the practice's records. Where something forms part of a client's clinical record, Texas rules for licensed professional counselors set how long it must be retained.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will, unless we are required to keep it as part of a clinical record. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser at any time.
Security
Information is encrypted, access is limited to the people at the practice who need it, and access to saved assessments is logged. No system is perfectly secure, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Please do not send anything highly sensitive by email; it is not a secure channel, and that includes results we send you at your request.
Changes and questions
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. Questions about it, or about information we hold, can go through our contact form or to the office nearest you on our locations page.
